National perinatology conference 2025

The annual conference in perinatology organized by the Swedish Society for Perinatal Medicine took place in Stockholm on 16-17 October 2025.

There were two presentations from the N4 research group on Oct 16:

Itay Zamir Nilsson presented the new national guidelines on management of neonatal hypoglycemia at the clinical symposium – this is the result of a long project within the Nutrition and gastroenterology working group of the Swedish Neonatal Society, chaired by Magnus Domellöf.

Magnus Domellöf presented an abstract on ‘Probiotics and risk of death, necrotising enterocolitis, and sepsis in very preterm infants (28-31 weeks) born in Sweden between 2017-2024’ which won a prize as one of the three best presentations.

After lunch on Thursday 16 October research grants from Lilla Barnets Fond were presented, and another member of the N4 research group featured; Malin Bergman Papworth was awarded a grant for her project ‘Intervention for Neurodevelopmental Support in Preterm Infants using Responsive Parenting and E-health (INSPIRE)’.

Also N4 PhD student Sara Olivecrona was voted in as a board member of the Swedish Neonatal Society.

“Umeå was well represented, and the meeting was a great opportunity for networking” said Magnus Domellöf after the conference concluded.
