European Academy of Paediatric Societies (EAPS) congress 7-11 October 2022, Barcelona

The European Academy of Paediatric Societies (EAPS) congress was back as an in-person event and took place in Barcelona 7-11 October.

The programme offered delegates talks from over 250 established professionals and the latest developments in paediatrics were presented over 200 sessions and 1200 posters.

Several researches affiliated with the N4 Research Group were in attendance in Spain and many had been selected to give presentations.

PhD student Stina Alm presented her abstract ‘Prevalence and Risk Factors for Feeding Problems in Infants Born Extremely Preterm in a Swedish Population Based Cohort’.

PhD student Pontus Challis had an e-poster: Increase of Necrotizing Enterocolitis Over a Decade: A Swedish Population-Based Cohort Study of Extremely Low Gestational Age Infants.

Thomas Abrahamsson talked about the latest findings from the N-forte study in his presentation ‘Nordic Study on Human Milk Fortification in Extremely Preterm Infants (N-Forte): A Randomised Controlled Trial’ as part of the ‘late breaking’ e-poster session.

Thomas’ PhD student Linn Löfberg presented ‘Among Extremely Preterm Infants, Postnatal Betamethasone Treatment During the Neonatal Period Is Associated with Increased Risk of Neurodevelopment Impairment at 6.5 Years of Age’ as part of the young investigators presentations session.

From Norway and the ImNuT study, Kristina Wendel presented ‘Effect of Arachidonic and Docosahexaenoic Acid Supplementation on Respiratory Outcomes in Preterm Infants’ while Madelaine E. Rossholt presented ‘A Standardized Feeding Protocol for Extremely Preterm Infants Ensured Recommended Nutrient Intakes and Prevented Growth Faltering’.

Henrik Domellöf was in attendance as an exhibitor with Trients and the Nutrium software.

“This was our first international research conference since the pandemic and it was a huge success” said Magnus Domellöf who attended the congress with fellow researchers and couple of his PhD students from Umeå, as well as numerous other N4 research group collaborators from Sweden and abroad.
